Nautilus Subsea assisted Ocean Installer in fabrication supervision of spools for the Askeladd project. The spools were fabricated by Hammerfest Industri Service (HIS) at Polarbase in Hammerfest.
The project period was challenging due to COVID-19 and the restrictions introduced in March. HIS managed to complete the project without impact to the overall schedule. The spools were 20” and pipe material 25Cr. Terminations used were from both Aker and Baker Hughes GE; Aker HCS, Baker HCCS and Baker PSS. The first spool, the Template L spool was installed and tied-in on the 2nd of July, followed by the next two spools, and finally the P-spool was installed and tied-in Monday 13th of July.
All four spools were installed and tied-in without any unforeseen challenges, which means that all steps of fabrication was performed within tolerances given and OI’s expectations.
